Literature
at the Festival
Poetry,
Prose, Drama, and Film - a feast of literature at this years
festival! New for this festival are two events from two of the local
book groups. Ever
wondered what book groups do exactly? Ever considered joining, or
forming, one?
These events designed to inform, intrigue and stimulate potential
new readers. Local poet Bert Flitcroft will again run a poetry
workshop for those who would like to just come along and ‘have a
go’. He will also be hosting the popular, 'Poetry Out to Lunch'.
‘In and
Out of Love’ – an evening of poetry and drama which will
conclude with an open mic session for you to bring along your own
poems and share them with a live audience.
Keep your eyes open for poems, written by members of the Alrewas
Poetry Society, which will be displayed around the village during
Festival week. We are excited to say that Drama at the festival is
also expanding. There will be new directors and actors performing
new works by local people. We have humour and adult themes, children
participating in the Open Air Event and a specially written,
filmed and performed Canal film 'A Cut through Alrewas' (we are
inviting young people over 13 to be involved in the production team
- please get in touch) . There's a Film Festival (click the
link to submit a film) and Maria
Whatton will once again delight us with an evening of storytelling,
this year aimed at a family audience.
