My Favourite Planks
Planks in the gardens and planks on the Main Street,
Planks down the riverside, planks up the oak tree.
Planks down the hedgerows and planks in the sky,
Planks nailed up everywhere, who can tell why?
Shaped into people and patterns and creatures,
Toadstools and sea monsters; dogs with daft features.
Roses and castles and bright painted flowers,
Hedgehogs and guinea pigs (must have took hours!)
Cats by the wall side and fish by the seaside
A cow at the Co-op – just follow your free guide,
Planks painted purple and planks painted green,
Planks painted ev’ry hue you’ve ever seen
When the storm breaks,
When the roof leaks,
When I’m feeling sad,
I simply remember my favourite PLANKS
And then things don’t seem so bad!
